Reflections on Science Experiences

These experiences can include laboratory sessions, fieldwork, excursions, sabbatical
courses or any Science related activities.

Activity 1:

Details of Activity

Term: 1

Name of Activity: Science Eureka

Objective of Activity: To expose students to more fields of science

Venue: Hwa Chong Institution

Pictures of Activity:

"Snowstorm"

"Snowstorm"

"Inflating a balloon without blowing"

1. What have you learnt from the activity?

Ans:

I have learnt a lot from Science Eureka. Bascially, Science Eureka has taught me the 3 fundamental science fields, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. I get to have a better understanding of science through the experiment such as the activity on Chemical Rainbow where we mixed different solutions together and they appear like a rainbow due to the difference in density. This course can be said to be very fulfilling.

2. What do you like most and least about the activity?

What I like most about the activity is the opportunity I get to pursue my passion for science. I get to expose myself to different kind of experiment which is very enriching in terms of content. I love the chemistry lesson the best because the instructors do give vivid explanations which is very helpful to my understanding. However, I think that the course can improve their physics lessons. Physic, in my opinion is more theoretical and should have much more reasoning than just a simple few words. Though I understand the theory behind it but I feel that a more detailed explanation could have been given. Overall, I love the course a lot because of it depth in terms of knowledge as well as engaging.

3. What do you learn about your partner (if any) from doing the activity?

My partner is rather friendly but he sings too much during lessons. He is quite helpful but if he do concentrate and disturbs me less, I would be very thankful and would appreciate him as a partner.
